Elizabeth Lynne Theuerkauf

Elizabeth Lynne Theuerkauf, 83, of Tenafly, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026. Born on August 15, 1942, in Montgomery, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lucile and Douglas Meredith. Known affectionately to family and friends as Lynne, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Rolf Theuerkauf of Demarest, New Jersey. Lynne is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Barbara Theuerkauf of Batavia, Illinois; Jeff and Michele Theuerkauf of Glen Rock, New Jersey; and Mike and Judy Theuerkauf of Tenafly, New Jersey. She was the cherished “Choo-Choo” to her grandchildren Blaire (and her husband Eric), Haleigh, Madison, Chris, Peter, Matthew, Dane, and Rylie, and to her great-grandson, Jayden. She is also survived by her dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Christine Theuerkauf of Chatham, New Jersey, and their family, all of whom she loved deeply. Lynne will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and selfless spirit. Family was always at the center of her life, and she lived by the simple but meaningful belief “Be Kind” and “Everyone Needs a Hug.” With her colorful vests, radiant smile, and warm heart, she had a remarkable way of making everyone she met feel special, welcomed, and uplifted. For more than 25 years, Lynne was a respected antique and estate jewelry dealer, proudly owning and operating her shop at the Clinton Inn in Tenafly, New Jersey. She treasured evenings spent dining with friends and family, always accompanied by good conversation and a glass of wine. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, walking, and connecting with people from all walks of life. Over the years, Lynne was involved in the Demarest community through her work with the PTA, the Library Bazaar, a liaison with the police department, and the United Methodist Church of Demarest, NJ. Her caring nature and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on many lives. A Celebration of Life will be held at Barrett Leber Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Lynne’s family asks that you honor her memory by paying it forward through an act of kindness — treat someone to dinner, offer a helping hand, or give an unsolicited hug to someone who may need one.
