George Golemis 1948-2020 It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the loss of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, George Golemis passed away on Tuesday, May 26th. George Golemis was born in Palaiopanagia, Sparta, Greece to Niki and Vrasidas Golemis. He grew up with four sisters and was known to be “the light” in the family since he was the youngest and only spartan boy in the family. Like his father and grandfather, he wanted to follow the American dream and He came to America and started a career in the restaurant business at the age of 18. In 1972 he became a partner at Tops Diner which he took over solely in the 80’s. He loved his job, staff, and customers. Tops was his second home. He was loyal to his customers and they were not only loyal, they respected him for the man he was. In 1973 he married Angeliki and they had four children whom he loved more than anything. They raised their four kids, Niki, Van, Jimmy and John in River Vale, NJ. He worked hard at Tops with the whole family. He was a man of integrity and respect. There is not a person who had met George and said that he was so soft spoken and full of respect. He was always helping family and friends in any way he could. The boys took over Tops so George and Angeliki could spend the past few years traveling and enjoying life. He was so proud of what they were doing with Tops and how they brought Tops to another level. He loved swimming in the clear blue sea of the Aegean. He loved the road trips that we would take. There will no longer be any Musketeer trips. What can I say about the world’s greatest dad? He was an honorable, respectable, and loving man. He was kind, more than fair, he was sweet, gentle, and so giving. He worked hard at everything he put his hands on and created magic. He touched so many . Our dad was an incredible man. He loved his family more than anything and everything he did, he did for them. He loved his granddaughter Mia more than words can describe and he loved his 3 grandsons so much and all them worshipped their pappou. I know we all have heard this before And I hadn’t realized it until right now - that life is a lot shorter than any of us realize And you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. He was greatness and we will miss him terribly. Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing should be impossible “ If we as a family can put our trust in God, we can and will get through anything While on the ride called life, you have to take the good with the bad , smile when you are sad , love what you got and remember What you had. Always forgive but never forget . Learn from your mistakes but never regret. People change. Things may go wrong. Just remember that life goes on .. Georgaki, Baba, Pappou, you will always be in our hearts and we love you so much now and forever ...🙏&#55356;�🙏&#55356;� George will be laid to rest on Friday May 29th in a private ceremony Arrangements made by Barret Funeral Homes.
