John Capra

John J Capra of Dumont, New Jersey. John, survived by his wife Stephanie, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 years on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 surrounded by his family. John was born to John and Christine Craper of Jersey City, New Jersey. He is survived by his sister Christine, his two handsome sons John and Brian, and daughters-in-law Katharine and Alcira. He was also a proud and loving grandparent to Christian, Francesca, Justin, Bailey and Nicolas & Alexa. John was raised in Jersey City and Ridgefield park surrounded by family and friends. His many aunts and uncles were always close by for large family dinners and holidays. Aunts and uncles from Stephanie’s family grew to adore John as they came to know and love him. “Gold” was not a nickname they felt fully encapsulated his generous spirit and kindness, so they gave him the name “platinum” instead. In his early days John worked in New York City and where he met his soulmate Stephanie at Morgan Guarantee Trust. They started dating, and 8 months later were engaged to be married. In between their engagement and wedding, John served his country in Vietnam for 1 and ½ years. Once married, John worked in construction but shortly after his entrepreneurial spirit took hold and he started his own catering business. After he sold the business, John built a very successful medical billing company with Stephanie, Brian and 2 other partners which is still flourishing today. In John and Stephanie’s early days of raising their two boys, they spent a lot of time laughing with family and friends in town. John sometimes played golf on the weekends but preferred to coach his son’s soccer teams where they won multiple championships. John was loved. His generosity and kindness was felt by everyone from his wife, sons, sister, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, new and old friends, and he will be forever in our hearts.
