Thomas Bradler

Thomas Bradler, 82, of Dumont, NJ (formerly of Astoria, NY) passed away peacefully and at home with his wife on September 3, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to his wife Kathy; whom he loved deeply. Devoted father of Greg Bradler, Liz Oelofse, Dave Bradler, Kathleen Penland, and predeceased by his daughter Karen LoSchiavo (2022); father-in-law to Rose (Andrzejewski) Andrez Bradler, Scott LoSchiavo, Juan Oelofse, Linda (MacDonald) Bradler, and Forest Penland. Cherished grandfather of Deven, Kole, Kaylee, Corbin, Brad, Madelyn, Kathryn, Emma, Shane, Grace, Julianna, and Penelope; whom he affectionately called his “Cuckoo Nut Nuts.” Loving brother to Jim, Bob (deceased), Dennis (deceased), and Peggy. Uncle to countless nieces and nephews. Tom was so proud of his family. Tom wore many hats throughout his extraordinary life. Some of his jobs included postal worker, radio man in the Navy, taxi driver, and police officer. Tom was able to parlay his knowledge of radio technology in the Navy into a successful career in telecommunications for nearly thirty years at RCA/ MCI/ and World Com; illustrating his incredible work ethic. His time in the Navy and his career in telecommunications brought him all around the world. Tom’s jobs, travels, and adventures gave him the material for his incredible story-telling. Tom loved cooking, sports, fishing, Westerns, and music; specifically, the doo-wop era of music. Upon hearing a doo-wop tune he could tell you the year any single was released, plus it’s flip side. Tom often attached a memory to a song, weaving it into his story-telling; his and Kathy’s wedding song (“I Only Have Eyes for You”), and what his mother’s favorite song to sing was (“Stormy Weather”), for example. Tom took week-long fishing trips to Florida with his friends and brothers-in-law for nineteen years. Fishing was his “happy place” and the way he spoke about it made you wish you were on one of these epic trips. As we envision Tom now, he is out to sea with loved ones, listening to doo-wop, casting his line as he tells yet another great story. He will be deeply missed.
