Ana Soto

Ana M. Soto, 65, who loved to be called "Mama" by her grandchildren, departed her loving family on December 11, 2020. Born in Moca, Dominican Republic, Ana came to the US in 1986 and first settled in the Bronx before moving to New Jersey in 2012. A loving and devoted mother of Robert Castillo and his wife Nikauly Acosta of Bergenfield, Nelson Soto and his wife Emily Martinez of New Milford and Auracelis Soto and her husband Miguel Alvarez of Middletown. Cherished and loved grandmother of Natalie, Camila, Miguel IV and Alayna. Dear sister of Juana, Santiago, Felix, Hipolito. Ana, know as “Miss Soto”, “Negra” was full of life, vibrant, joyful, always smiling and happy. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She loved flowers and plants. Ana had a forgiving heart and spirit of a child. Ana devoted her professional career at NYC Borough of Education, helping children of special needs. She loved her students. Working with them filled her with so much joy and pride. Ms. Soto was very cherished and loved by friends, colleagues and her students. A devoted member of her church El Amanecer De La Esperanza. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Barrett Funeral Home, 148 Dean Street, Tenafly, NJ 07670 from 5pm to 7pm. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 10:30am at the George Washington Memorial Cemetery.
