Daniel Swift Gagliano January 6, 1978 – December 17, 2024 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Swift Gagliano on December 17, 2024. Born on January 6, 1978, in Summit, New Jersey, Daniel lived a life filled with adventure, passion, and an unwavering love for animals, nature, and the people around him. A successful business owner in Point Pleasant, NJ and Vinalhaven, Maine, Daniel’s expertise in all things construction was often called upon. Daniel had an unparalleled love for his dogs—Duke, Bear, Goose, Luna, Honey, Monkey, Panda, and Merlin—who were not just pets but family. His passion for animals extended beyond his own home, as he was a dedicated supporter of animal shelters and rescue organizations, always advocating for animals who could not speak for themselves. A true adventurer at heart, Daniel found peace and excitement near the water. He loved sailing, boating, and snowboarding, always seeking new ways to connect with the great outdoors. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by nature, his loyal dogs by his side, and his partner, Justin. Daniel was also a voracious reader, consuming books (and anything he could get his hands on) daily and enriching his life with an incredible depth of knowledge. His love for history, fine art, and antiques made him a storyteller who could bring any topic to life. Whether discussing historical events or the craftsmanship of a beautiful piece of furniture, Daniel’s conversations were engaging and full of passion. Known for his vibrant personality and booming voice, Daniel had a presence that filled every room he entered. He loved music, concerts, and being surrounded by friends and family. His home was a welcoming space, always alive with the buzz of laughter, love, and memorable moments. Daniel’s appreciation for beauty, history, and adventure made him a collector of all things meaningful. From antiques to artwork and everything in between, he valued the stories behind the things he loved and shared them with those around him. Daniel is survived by his partner, Justin Mellen-Stier; his beloved dogs, Honey, Monkey, and Panda; his father, Guido Gagliano and wife, Helene; Aunt Francesca Gagliano (husband Allen), his siblings, Shoana Gagliano Terra-Nova (husband Dave), James Gagliano (wife Anne), Alessia Gagliano Doss (husband Ethan), Francesca Gagliano Korbas (husband Greg), and Joseph Gagliano. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Katharine, Madeleine, David, Effie, Ophelia, Thoren, Juno, and Orion, as well as a wide circle of friends who were touched by his warmth, humor, and zest for life. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy James Gagliano, and his sister, Juliana Gagliano. A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations may be made to any animal shelter or organization close to your heart as that would mean the most to Daniel.
