Gertrude Rose Nitsche

Gertrude Rose (McKeon) Nitsche, age 89, of Haworth, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of William Nitsche for over 61 years. Born July 19th, 1932, and raised in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary McKeon. Gertrude lived in Haworth since moving there in 1963 and raised four children. Gertrude was an exceptional wife and mother. She brought love and joy to her family and will be deeply missed by all those she encountered. Her passion for her grandchildren and love of entertaining family and friends created uncountable family memories to cherish. Gertrude was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church where she served as a Catechist and sang in the choir. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Mail Marketing Guild in Cresskill, NJ. Gertrude is the beloved mother of Paul and his wife, Denise Nitsche of Franklin, TN; Susan and her husband, Larry Jansson of Haworth, NJ; Beth and her husband, Dominick Rutigliano of Haworth, NJ; and Jackie and her husband, John Buckley of Haworth, NJ. She is survived by her cherished grandchildren; Kevin and Brian Nitsche; Hope, Emma, and Sean Jansson; Dominick, Luke, Mia and James Rutigliano; Olivia, Ella and John Buckley. Gertrude is also predeceased by her brother, Jack McKeon of Massapequa, NY; and her sister, Veronica Coleman of Cheshire, CT. To celebrate Gertrude’s life, friends and family are invited to a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church in Haworth NJ at 10:30am on Saturday March 26, 2022.
