HAWORTH – Helen Louise Marie Fitzpatrick passed away in her home on April 15, 2021 at the age of 97. A lifelong resident of Bergen County, she was born and lived in Cliffside Park with her parents, Otto Kohler and Lillian Wolf. She had no siblings. She attended Katharine Gibs School in New York City following her graduation from high school and worked in the City until her marriage to Herbert G. Fitzpatrick on January 17, 1959. Mr. and Mrs. Fitzpatrick settled in Bergen County where Helen became a homemaker. They had no children. Her father passed in December 1971 followed by her mother in September 1972. Helen served as a volunteer at Englewood Hospital for several years and became an avid golfer, playing the game well into her late 80s. They moved from their home in Oradell to their new “dream home” in Haworth, which was built to the Fitzpatrick’s specifications, in 1985, spending the winter months in their condominium in Winter Haven, Florida. Following Herb’s passing on February 25, 1992, Helen focused her energies on cultivating the beautiful gardens surrounding her home in Haworth and golfing with friends in NJ and Florida. Friends are invited to attend the visitation at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 148 Dean Drive in Tenafly, NJ on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 11am to 1pm, followed by the internment at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road in Paramus, NJ at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, friends of Mrs. Fitzpatrick are encouraged to make memorial contributions to the Haworth Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 271 Park Street, Haworth, NJ 07641.
