Henrietta H. Maras (nee Kasten), know to her family and friends as 'Janice', passed peacefully on November 14th, 2019, in Jupiter FL. Janice was born on April 21st, 1931 in Englewood N.J. She was a kind and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grand mother and friend too many. Janice lived a fulfilling and interesting life. Raised in Ridgefield, NJ, she was the cherished daughter of George W. and Hedwig (knee Booth) Kasten. She had two bothers, George and Charlie and is survived by her sister Dorothy as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband D. James Maras in 1986 and together they moved to Closter in 1968 to raise their children James and Susan. She graduated from Elizabeth Morrow High School in 1949, after which she studied fine arts, business and finance at both Columbia University and at NYU. During her young adult years she enjoyed a career in modeling and photography, later she developed a keen passion for finance and real estate. Janice was most certainly a woman ahead of her time. Being highly entrepreneurial, in the mid 1960's along with her husband Jim, formed Four Seasons Homes and provided the 'American Dream' too many homeowners. She was an extremely patriotic American who her loved her country deeply. She particularly enjoyed visiting Colonial Williamsburg, which she supported. She was philanthropic too many charities, including The American Red Cross, The Appalachians Peoples and Native American Indian organizations. She was an avid golfer who in 1977, along with husband, become members of the Ridgewood Country Club. Upon his death in 1986, she enjoyed the distinction of becoming the first full female member in Ridgewood C.C. history. She maintained a membership there for 42 years until present day. For the past 20 years, she continued her passion for golf by wintering in Jonathans Landing, Jupiter FL, and became a member of Jonathan's Landing C. C., along with her partner Morgan B. Procter with whom she shared a vibrant life. They enjoyed many happy trips traveling throughout Europe. Janice was a woman for all seasons and loved all creatures both great and small. Her gentleness, kindness and exceptional generosity, have left an indelible imprint on those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her devoted partner of 30 years, Morgan B. Procter, devoted daughter Susan A. Maras, devoted son James G. Maras, devoted daughter in law Carolyn A. Maras and son in law Harry Novack. Cherished grandmother to Sally J. Rispoli, Galen Dorian McCaffrey and Olivia J. Maras.
