McFADDEN, James F.X. Sr., born on March 2, 1956 in Teaneck, then becoming a lifelong resident of Demarest passed away suddenly surrounded by family on June 27, 2018. Beloved husband of Mary A. (nee Daily). Devoted father of James F.X. Jr and Sean. He is also survived by his siblings Thomas, Christine (Bernardo), Monica, Jean (Ryan), Moira (Whidby), and many nieces and nephews and predeceased by parents Thomas S. and Jean (nee McKay). James Sr. was a Ex-Chief and member of the Demarest Volunteer Fire Department for 44 years and Ex-Chief and member of the Demarest Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 42 years. He was a dedicated instructor at the Bergen County Fire Academy for over 27 years before retiring from the academy and The NJ Division of Fire Safety as a Principal Planner. James Sr. accomplished many things in his life, such as attaining the rank of Eagle Scout of Troop 101, past President of the Demarest Volunteer Fire Association, Past President of the Interboro Fire Chief’s Association and member of the National Fallen Firefighters Association. Visitation at Barrett Funeral Home 148 Dean Dr., Tenafly on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass Monday, 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, Demarest. Interment Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in James McFadden’s name to the Demarest Fire Department or Demarest Volunteer Ambulance Corp are appreciated.
