Louis J Morelli

March 3, 2018

Louis Joseph Morelli P. E. went home to the Lord and his beloved family in heaven on March 3, 2018 at 93 years young. He lived an exemplary life, with his treasured family as his best accomplishment. Lou was happily married to his wife Maria Cimilluca Morelli for 69 years. Together they raised a wonderful son and two daughters: Louis Charles Morelli M. D., Elena Theresa Van Poznak, and Filomena Maria Soyster. Lou and Maria are blessed with two son-in laws, seven beautiful grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The Van Poznak family includes son-in-law Ted Van Poznak and his children Marisa Van Poznak M. D, Theodore J. Van Poznak, Alexander Van Poznak, and Katherine Van Poznak. Teddy and his wife Cassandra Van Poznak are the proud parents of Bella Theodora Van Poznak. Marisa Van Poznak M. D. is the proud mother of Elena Ciaccio and Evan Ciaccio. Filomena Soyster and her husband Thomas Soyster are the proud parents of Thomas J. Soyster, Jeffery S. Soyster, and Mary Elizabeth Soyster. These children and their legacy are Lou and Maria’s pride and joy. Louis J. Morelli worked throughout his long life as a civil engineer with a treasured P. E. credential. He was devoted to his work and to the quality of outcomes, a consistent and real perfectionist. Lou worked for many years at American Machine and Foundry (AMF) in Stamford, CT. He also worked at SMS Concast, headquartered in Pittsburgh. Lou kept and cherished the friendships from his long career. We remember Lou always for his agreeable nature, kindness, patience, love of family, and good humor. Lou could appreciate and tell a joke better than the rest. Lou was predeceased by his daughter Elena Van Poznak and by his three sisters and one brother. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. Lou’s family will receive visitors at Barrett’s Funeral home in Tenafly, New Jersey on Thursday March 8, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday March 9, 2018 at 10 am at Mount Carmel Church in Tenafly. Brief service to follow at Madonna Mausoleum in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th floor, Norwalk, CT. 06851
