Maureen Roschel Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

MATAMORAS – Maureen Roschel, 72, of Matamoras, passed at Englewood Medical Center in Englewood on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, due to Covid Virus complications. She fought a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis and was on a lung transplant list prior to contracting Covid. Maureen was born in Greenpoint Brooklyn, NY at St. Catherine’s Hospital on January 22, 1949. She attended St. Cecilia’s Elementary School and St. Nichole’s High School, while living in NY the mist of her life. She married and moved to Matamoras, PA. She was a government employee at Picatinny Arsenal for 25 years. She also had her own convenient store for 5 years in Hamburg, NJ with her husband. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Roschel; her step-children Christian and his wife Jessica Roschel; Claudia and Howard and their children Alexandria, Alissa, and Mia Evans; her sister, Joyce and her husband Humberto and their children Keri and Daniel Contreras; her brother Michael and his wife Jane and their children Patrick and Matthew Downey. Also surviving are her furbaby Brandy and all her cats. Words cannot describe the pain and sorrow felt at the passing of such a beautiful person. She will forever live in the heart of her husband Jerry and all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held for Maureen at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 84 Herbert St, Brooklyn, NY 11222 on Friday, February 18th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Wanuza Pinheiro Cruz Animal Medical Care Foundation Inc. 4 Pine Terrace, Demarest, NJ. She had a passion for animals of all kinds, including all her own.
