Rosemary (Mary) Theresa Dolan (nee Scanlon), Age 86, of Moultonborough, NH passed away peacefully in her sleep at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, NJ on Sunday October 20, 2019 at 2:57 AM. Born in Bronx, NY, to Clement Alexander Nicholas Scanlon and Blanche Rita Joy. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, James Edward Dolan. Rosemary is predeceased by her daughters, Mary Rose Dolan Cote and Kathleen Dolan, and her grandson, Patrick James Dolan, and her sister Blanche Skelly. Rosemary is survived by her loving sons; James Patrick and wife Glynis of Closter, NJ, John Peter of Hawthorne, NJ, Christopher Edward and wife Kimberly of Westwood, NJ, and Richard Neil of Hawthorne, NJ. Beloved Grandmother to Justine Marie Cote, Colleen Jon Dolan, Meghan Theresa Dolan, Kathleen Brigit Dolan, Kayley Rose Giorgini, Sophia Marie Giorgini, Jillian Sandor and her husband Michael, John Douglas Dolan, Evelyn Marie Dolan, Christopher James Dolan Jr., Chloe Bella Dolan, Ava Rose Dolan. Cherished Great Grandmother to Robert and Ryan Sandor and Beloved Sister to Marilyn Dah Dah, and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was an active parishioner at St Charles Borromeo Church in Meredith, NH. Rosemary married at the young age of 19, not uncommon back in 1953! Rosemary and her husband left the Bronx after James completed his service in the US Navy as a Naval Corpsman 3 PO and migrated to the suburb of Westwood, NJ. At that time, James went on to enjoy a successful career in Local 52 IATSE Motion Picture Industry as a Gaffer and Rosemary was busy at home raising 6 children. Rosemary also worked for many years at B. Altmans, a local retail enterprise back in the day. Rosemary was a proud graduate from Cathedral High School, Manhattan in 1951. After the children were grown, Mary went on to earn an Associate of Arts Degree at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ. Rosemary never shied away from a challenge and kept herself busy always. After retiring to New Hampshire in 1993, Mary enjoyed the mountain air and outdoor activities very much. She snow shoed, hiked often, explored the numerous area water falls, picked blueberries, enjoyed the neighboring museums and the many offerings at the local libraries. Mary took up swimming to conquer an old fear, continued on to take painting classes and writing classes and even yoga; anything that struck her fancy she was willing to try at least once! Rosemary weathered many a storm and is a fine example of old school strength and courage. Mary will truly be missed but remembered with love. The family will receive relatives and friends at Barrett Funeral Home, 148 Dean Drive, Tenafly, NJ on Wednesday October 23rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Mass celebrating Rosemary’s life and faith will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 10am at Our Lady of Victories Church, 150 Harriot Drive, Harrington Park, NJ. Interment will be November 2nd, 2019 at Shannon Cemetery, Moultonborough NH 03254. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Rosemary’s name to the NH Humane Society at 1305 Meredith Center Road, Laconia, NH 03256.
