Rosemary Kinlin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rosemary Kinlin (nee) Heatherly, 96, former longtime resident of Demarest, NJ passed away peacefully on March 17, 2022. She was the devoted wife of the late James W. Kinlin for over 57 years. She was born in New York, NY in 1925 as one of eight children of Joseph and Anna Heatherly and is survived by two sisters – Catherine and Ann. Rosemary and Jim moved to Demarest in 1954 and raised five children there. Loving mother of Rosemary (Mendel), James (Jayne), Robert (Nancy), Dorothy (Max) and Daniel (Tamara). Proud and loving Grandmother of Kris, Colleen (Greg), Courtney (Steve), Heather (Chris), Mariko, Katherine and Max. Great Grandmother (GG) to Jacob, Jameson, Jaiden, Maya, Enya Jayne, Ruby, Burt, Owen and Orion. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and a caring, generous friend and neighbor. Rosemary was very active in the Demarest community—she worked at the Demarest Post Office for many years before retiring and becoming a snowbird and going to Florida in the winter with Jim for several years. As active members of the Tenafly Elks, they kept busy with fundraising especially for the “Crippled Children’s Fund”, helping out with the annual clam bakes and volunteering at various lodges when they traveled. Summers were filled with time spent at the Demarest Swim Club as well as participating in events with the Demarest Senior Citizens. Prior to that, she was very active in Saint Joseph’s parish for many years as a Eucharistic Minister, Cornerstone participant and other church community activities. Rosemary was both a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout leader when her children were young. She was a very talented seamstress and was always being asked to do special sewing jobs for many people over the years. She custom made a wedding dress without a pattern and even bought the fabric for the young bride herself! She was a very giving, generous person and was always a person you could count on for her help. Rosemary was a loving, compassionate person who would always do for others before herself. She brought much joy and love to her family and friends and will be missed terribly by anyone who knew and loved her. She is going to be dearly missed by all those left behind, but she is now at peace with Jim and he can once again say “Babe, while you’re up…..” In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rosemary Kinlin may be sent to: Christian Health Foundation, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Anyone who would like to celebrate Rosemary’s life is welcome to join us on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 2pm to 6pm at Barrett Leber Funeral Home. Funeral service on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 9am at the Barrett Leber Funeral Home in Tenafly, NJ followed by her burial at George Washington Memorial Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
