Eileen Campbell Guilfoyle

Eileen Campbell Guilfoyle passed away peacefully at her home in Estero, Florida on March 9, 2026. Eileen was born and raised in Ardfield, Clonakilty, County Cork, Ireland. She was the oldest of eleven children born to Sean and Ellen (“Nellie”) O’Donovan and the only one who immigrated to the United States. Like many Irish in the 1950’s, Eileen came to the United States in search of greater opportunities. She settled in New York City, a place she deeply loved. She eventually moved to Cresskill, New Jersey, where she lived for more than 60 years. Eileen raised six children on her own before re-marrying Gerard Guilfoyle, the love of her life. Together they provided a wonderful life for their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling, spending time with their little dog Magi, dining out with friends and most importantly spending time with the family at Lake Wallenpaupack where they had a lake house for many years. Eileen also loved to go “home” to Ireland to spend time with her many sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She also loved to have her family visit from Ireland and always looked forward to preparing the house for visitors. Everybody was always welcome. One of her favorite sayings was, “when life knocks you down, pick yourself up by the bootstraps and move on.” She had a never quit attitude which is why, as a single mother with six children, she started a career/business in real estate. She eventually became one of the broker/owners of Century 21 MACC realty, a real estate brokerage with offices in Tenafly and Teaneck, NJ. She continued to work in real estate until her retirement in 2018. Later in life she loved heading south for the winter to enjoy her home in West Bay in Estero, Florida. Eileen is predeceased by her parents Sean and Ellen, her husband Gerard D. Guilfoyle who passed away in 2011, her son-in-law Noel O’Malley, and her brothers Dennis and Dan O’Donovan. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Sheila Murphy, Mary Wynne, Margaret Bennett, JJ O’Donovan, Esther O’Regan, Marie Sheehan, Pat Joe O’Donovan, and Breda Kavanagh. Her children Mary T. Campbell, Michelle Ceballos, Sean Campbell (Annie), Eileen “Biddy” O’Malley, Michael Campbell (Celine), Helena DeChappe (Thomas), her two step-daughters Susan Guilfoyle (Eileen) and Maureen Tou (Ed). Her Grandchildren, Andrew Ceballos (who gave her the nickname “Gammy”) (Rebecca), Matthew Ceballos (Jackeline), Evan Ceballos (Sydnie), Erin Ceballos Goodman (Jordan), JP Campbell, Michael Evan Campbell, Emma Mae O’Malley, Sebastian Wucher, Nikko Wucher, Michelle Marquez, Joey Garcia, Amanda Garcia, Allison Tou, and Jordan Tou. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, March 22, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Barrett Leber Funeral Home in Tenafly, New Jersey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 23, at 10:00 AM at St. Therese’s Church in Cresskill, New Jersey that will be livestreamed, followed by interment at Madonna Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Eileen’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. When they married, Eileen and Gerry’s wedding bands were Claddagh Rings. She leaves behind an immense legacy of love, friendship and loyalty. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
