Jocelyn Salcedo Claveria

A life is not measured by the years we are given, but by the love we leave behind. Jocelyn Salcedo Claveria lived a life defined by unwavering faith, selfless generosity, and unconditional love. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and found her greatest fulfillment in caring for others. She passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to live on in all who knew her. Born on June 15, 1963, Joy possessed an incredible work ethic and determination from an early age. She first earned a degree in Chemical Engineering before pursuing nursing and earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a decision that would become one of the defining moments of her life. She later moved to the United States, where she worked tirelessly to build a brighter future for her family. As a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse, Joy devoted her career to caring for the smallest and most fragile babies, offering comfort, hope, and compassion to families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Years later, parents would still recognize her in public and thank her for caring for their baby, a testament to the lasting impact she had on their families. The same compassion she showed her patients defined the way she lived. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel safe enough to share their hearts. She listened with compassion, encouraged without judgment, and made everyone around her feel heard. She expressed her love through thoughtful gifts, quiet acts of service, and a willingness to help anyone in need. If you admired something she owned, she would often insist you take it home, finding far more joy in giving than in keeping. Her generosity was simply a reflection of who she was. Outside of work, Joy found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved gardening, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was incredibly artistic and creative, always finding ways to make something beautiful. With her Cricut machine in hand, there seemed to be nothing she couldn't create. She loved designing personalized gifts, keepsakes, and handmade greeting cards. Her creativity extended to the kitchen, where she loved experimenting with Filipino desserts and favorite family recipes. Above all else, her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were her three children. She poured her entire heart into being a devoted wife and an extraordinary mother. Every sacrifice she made, every prayer she whispered, and every long shift she worked were for her family. She celebrated their successes as if they were her own, carried their burdens without hesitation, and loved them with a depth that words can barely describe. Joy is survived by her beloved husband, Melvin; her cherished children, Kevinejoyce, Bryan, and Princess; and her loving siblings, Rolando, Divina, Edwin, Dominador, Reynaldo, Juan Antonio III, and Joanne, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and colleagues. Joy will be remembered not only for everything she accomplished, but for the remarkable woman she was—strong yet gentle, humble yet resilient, and generous beyond measure. She taught us that life's greatest purpose is found not in what we achieve, but in how we love, how we serve, and how we care for one another. Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that her story does not end here. It lives on in the values she instilled, the family she cherished, the lives she touched, and the countless memories that will continue to remind us of the amazing woman she was.
