John Cauda, Jr. of Demarest, New Jersey. Johnny, predeceased by wife, Judith Ann, passed away at the age of 81 years on Thursday, September 28, 2023 surrounded by his family. John was born to John and Mary Cauda of Cliffside Park, New Jersey. He is predeceased by his sister, Maryann, and survived by his brother Glenn along with his brother-in-laws, Joseph (Jesse), Roy, Robert and Carl and sister-in-laws, Louise, Barbara, Marilyn, Gail and Marcia. John and Judy are survived by their four children, John III, Judy, Jessica and Joseph and son-in-laws, Michael and Eric and daughter-in-law, Kris. They were proud grandparents to Jenna, Kacy, Dane, Rylie, Rachael, Amanda and Daniel. John was raised in Union City and Cliffside Park by his large Italian family. His Uncles were his role models, especially Elmo and Joseph. John had attended Cliffside Park High School where he met lifelong friends and hung out at Saul’s Candy Stationery and Palisades Park Amusement Park. John attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey and always stayed close to home. He met the love of his life, Judith Ann, who was four years younger while hanging by the High School. They married 3 years later, always playing rock and roll and dancing together. John first worked on Wall Street and elevated to be a trader. His family business needed him years later and changed his career path to operations of Quaker Soap. John later switched occupations again and owned and operated a commercial tire and retread company in Dover, New Jersey. John remained in the commercial tire business until his passing with Inter City Tire. He became one of the most knowledgeable and beloved commercial tire salesmen around and his son Joe will be his legacy. When the family was young, John and Judy were both very active in the community and John was the President of the Demarest Athletic Association. John decided to go back to his love for his community a few years back. He said his favorite job was being a crossing guard for the town as a member of the Demarest Police Department. He loved seeing the kids, their families, his fellow officers and the school staff members and making them smile each and every day along with the deer and squirrels he loved to cross. John was a beloved grandfather, father and husband and always spread his love, friendship and sense of humor with everyone each and every day. He is forever in our hearts. Visitation will be at Barrett Leber Funeral Home, 148 Dean Drive, Tenafly, NJ 07670 on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 1 pm – 4 pm, a funeral mass will be on Monday, October 2, 2023 at St. Therese of Lisieux Church, 120 Monroe Ave, Cresskill, NJ 07626 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Westwood Cemetery, Westwood.
