Nancy Ann Bosco

BOSCO, Nancy Ann (nee Dunkle), of Oradell, NJ, passed away on September 26, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Philip M. Bosco, devoted sister to R. Douglas Dunkle (Eileen), cherished mother of Diane (Jim), Philip (Mayda), Christopher (Marlene), Jennifer, Lisa (Al), Celia, and John (Valerie), adored grandmother of Philip, Sara, Jenna, Max, Joseph, Samson, Emma, Alex, Emily, Analisa, Cameron, Frank, Luke, Joseph, Ben, Griffin and Leo, proud great grandmother to Calvin, Aunt to many loved nieces and nephews, and a dear, loving friend to so many, both living and passed. Nancy left her small hometown of New Lexington, Ohio to pursue a career as a dancer, enrolling at Catholic University in Washington, DC and was a member of its renowned Drama Dept. There she met her leading man, the dashing actor Philip Bosco, who swept her off her feet and they were married in 1957. What followed was an explosion of children and careers, as Philip went on to become an acclaimed actor on the New York stage, propelled always by the valued advice and guidance of Nancy, who became a respected literary advisor and mentor to playwrights in her own right. For more than half a century, Nancy and Phil provided their family with a rich life filled with perennial cast parties, frequent excursions to the opera and concerts, family outings to racetracks, feisty poker nights, and unforgettable holiday and birthday celebrations. Life was never dull in the Bosco home. Nancy happily tolerated barking dogs, loud race cars, long hair, mountains of laundry, and a steady revolving stream of her children’s many friends. Her door, like her heart, was always open. The lights literally never went out at the Bosco home. Nancy was a world class cook and a voracious reader, and though Nancy was almost perpetually in motion, when she was sitting down, she was reading. Nancy loved to entertain, and her frequent parties were memorable affairs which were enriched by the presence of so many cherished friends. Our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away very peacefully, her hands held warmly by her children, after a brief illness. Friends are welcome to visit on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Barrett Leber Funeral Home, 148 Dean Drive, Tenafly, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 10 County Road, Tenafly, NJ.
