Robert Conti

Robert Conti, age 70, of Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Lake Ariel, PA and Bergenfield, NJ went to be with the Lord on June 2, 2022. Bob was a devoted father to Allison Conti and loving grandfather to his best friend and great joy, Gianni Conti. Bob is survived by his longtime fiance Bernadette Lovico, sister Peggy Cable and her husband, John, sister in law Mary Conti, nieces Bernadette, Andrea, Theresa and husband Anthony, KellyAnne and husband Kevin, nephew John; great nephew Anthony and great nieces Taylor, Elena, Sara and Stella. Bob was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Margaret, and his brothers Richie, Roddy and Tommy. Bob was a retired Police Officer #131 for the Borough of New Milford where he worked for 25+ years. He was also the President of PBA Local 83. He was very active in the community participating in the DARE Program, Community Policing, Coaching Little League baseball, Private Security and Umping his daughter's softball games in NY so they could spend extra time together. He drove from PA to NJ to watch as many of Gianni's baseball's games as he could. He would even go on the field and coach first base. Whatever was needed in order to help, grandpa was right there. Bob was an avid golfer and loved to read. The biggest Mets/Jets fan and played centerfield for softball teams with his friends. Bob was always willing to help a friend with open arms. Bob was also maybe one of the last people to actually read newspapers. So much so that he had the Daily News and NY Post delivered to North Carolina rather than read them online. Bob received numerous medals and awards for his bravery in the line of duty and delivering a baby. The organization closest to Bob’s heart was the NJ Special Olympics for which he participated in fundraising events such as Torch Runs through New Milford, as well as the Polar Plunge. Funeral Services will be held at Barrett Leber Funeral Home at 148 Dean Drive in Tenafly, NJ from 4p-8p on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 followed by Mass at Ascension Church at 256 Azalea Drive in New Milford, NJ on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 10am.
